Hi there! I remember the pure excitement, gratification and joy I had when I first published an app to the Mac App Store. It's a really interesting experience that when you look at it, you can't stop smiling because you're feeling good about how much you accomplished. I wanted to recreate that feeling and recall that process of getting there in a format that I'm well familiar with: a visual novel. I also wanted to put players in the moment and try for themselves, as well as pull a couple of tricks in a way that Doki Doki Literature Club did (sans the psychological horror). And thus, Unscripted was born! Unscripted is a visual novel where you play as a new resident of Catalina City, home to many software developers. You're trying to get a puzzle similar to The Costumemaster into a prestigious arcade platform while settling in to a new life. You get to meet characters like Zen'no (your best friend), Katorin (a Kotlin enthusiast), Christina (a consultant on Python projects), and my personal favorite, Meredith (a typeface designer and Linux user). You also get to "debug" and "test" levels from the game you're trying to publish, using exploits to solve the puzzles. I'm impressed with what people can do with Ren'Py and Python, and I hope Unscripted serves as a great example of that. There's a demo available that you can grab at https://marquiskurt.itch.io/unsc..., and feel free to wishlist this on Steam!
