What do you think? …

Quentin Geddis
Congratulations on the launch! What would you say is the easiest way to use the crowdsourcing tool? Are dates, photos, or sources more of a priority for these cases?
Rachael Rosselet
@quentin_geddis Great question. We place a high priority on photos. I think, more than anything, this can help restore a victim's identity. They are also surprisingly hard to find. Beyond that, I would say sources, sources, sources. Our 'contribute to this case' feature makes it super easy to submit the information. Since launching this feature earlier in the summer, we've had more than 3,000 sources submitted to the site. That is 1,000s of cases that have had information added to their profile.

Love how your team has brought important work to life. Looking forward to seeing what's coming next!
Jim Brown
Thanks, @rodfeuer! It's been a journey, but being able to find true believer early has been wonderful.
Rod Feuer
@jim_brown Love it. Had dinner with Robbie Crabtree last week, and we talked about how important -- and special -- the early believers are. You never forget them.
Kyle Lacy
Congratulations on the launch! This is a needed tool to solving the unsolved.
Jim Brown
Thanks, @kyle_lacy1! People want to do more. They want to help. They just don't know how. Uncovered gives them the opportunity.

This seems like an awesome resource! Very needed with the growth in the last few years of citizen interest in True Crime sleuthing. For the average person out there with no real research or investigation related skill set, but with genuine desire to help with cold cases, what opportunities are there? Is there an educational piece to this?
Rachael Rosselet
@mary_storm Thanks for your question. We offer a variety of opportunities to help with cold cases! We know not everyone wants to wade into the deep end of research but most want to help in some way. Some of the more passive ways to contribute are to simply follow and share a case on your favorite social media platform. If you come across an article or some other update on a case, the "Contribute To This Case" button allows you to easily submit that info to us to be included in the case file. For the most intensive researchers, we offer special projects such as matching unidentified remains with missing persons, digitizing case files and visualizing a case (creating a timeline, adding locations, and important people). Education is key to our mission and we have quite a few resources on our site that can help you. The first thing I would do is visit the resources tab, and download our free "Citizen Detective Guide" which has a lot of information to get you started. Inside our community, we have a comprehensive set of resources that provides information on how to research a case: from digital literacy and how to evaluate sources and website suggestions all the way to our Digital Case File, which is a proprietary tool that will help you organize your research for visualization on our website. We also host regular training sessions and talks with experts on things like Forensic Genetic Genealogy. If that's still a bit intimidating, we regularly lead group research sessions where you work together as a team to research and visualize a case. There's something for everyone to help end this backlog!

@rachael_rosselet this is fantastic! Thank you.

I love that you are creating a product that has the power to dramatically change lives by bringing peace and closure to hurting people. Love that you are leveraging technology to invent new ways to crack formerly cold cases. Well done.
Rachael Rosselet
@royce_hall Thanks Royce! We wanted to take our expertise and really turn it into something that would benefit our community and society. Appreciate your comment!
Eric Kotchi
Great cause! Excited to follow.

This is SUPER interesting. Excited to see what you do with this! The potential here is huge!
Jim Brown
Thanks, @timhickle! It blew my mind that there wasn't already a central database of all these cases. When people hear about a case, they immediately go to google and search. Now, Uncovered is the result they see and we're getting the whole community to see what they can contribute.
