TypeLang is a macOS menu-bar app that translates what you're typing into natural, professional language — right where your cursor is. Press a shortcut, type in your language, hit Enter, and the fluent translation gets pasted automatically. Bring your own API key (Claude, GPT, Gemini) or run it fully local with LM Studio — no account, no subscription, nothing leaves your machine unless you choose a cloud provider. Free and open source.

would love to see a quick toggle to switch between formal and casual tone right from the menu bar, especially handy when jumping between work chats and personal messages without needing to tweak settings each time
@caner379705 Thanks for the suggestion, added. You can now change the tone using the Tab key or by selecting it manually, either for a specific message or globally in the settings.
love the shortcut-based flow and the option to go local with LM Studio. one thing that would make it stick for me: a snippet memory so i can call back frequently used translations (like my usual client replies) without retyping them each time. maybe bind them to a second shortcut and drop them straight in. would save a lot of friction during busy afternoons.
