TwoPlates creates one shared weekly meal plan for two adults with different nutrition goals, with personalised portions and one practical shopping list.
Hi Product Hunt š
I built TwoPlates because my wife and I had a very simple problem: we wanted to eat the same meals, but our nutrition goals were completely different.
I was trying to gain weight and muscle, while she was trying to lose weight. Most meal-planning and nutrition apps treated us as two separate people, which meant separate calorie targets, separate planning, and often the feeling that we needed separate meals too.
That never felt particularly practical.
So the original idea behind TwoPlates was: what if you could plan food as a household instead?
TwoPlates creates one shared weekly meal plan, then adjusts the portions for each person based on their individual calorie and macro goals. Breakfasts and lunches can still be personalised, dinners can be shared, and everything rolls into one shopping list.
The product changed quite a lot while I was building it.
Initially, I focused heavily on getting the maths to fit nutrition targets as closely as possible. But once we started actually using it at home, I realised that a mathematically perfect meal plan is useless if the portions are unrealistic, the recipes are inconvenient, or the app makes people feel boxed in.
So the focus shifted towards practicality.
That meant adding realistic portion limits, clearer explanations when a meal does not perfectly fit someone's targets, easier meal swaps, the ability to accept a slightly imperfect day, and generally making the app feel more like something that helps you make decisions rather than something that dictates what you have to eat.
A lot of TwoPlates has been shaped by simply using it ourselves every week and noticing where real life disagreed with the original design.
This is the first public version, so Iād genuinely love feedback, particularly from couples who have tried to manage different nutrition goals while still eating together.
