I see that you have an interactive platform for learning, but you mention live communication with tutors as well. So...how does the learning process work?
@nuta_blinicheva Tutors will be available on Slack and will also hold live webinars. Our program is broken down into 2-week sprints. During the first week of the sprint, you'll typically work your way through the tasks on our interactive platform. Step by step, you'll learn all the necessary programming concepts through practice. Once you've worked through all the lesson material, you can get to work on the project for that sprint, where you'll work on an addition to your portfolio over the course of a week.
If you feel stuck during any of these stages, you can always go to your tutor for help in Slack. They also regularly conduct live webinars where they discuss topics relevant to the project you're currently working on.

@shashkova_natalia Sounds really good! I surely have to try. Maybe this time I will understand Python.

I wholeheartedly believe that Yandex IS the best tech company in Russia and quite probably in Europe, I use a lot of their services, ect. But enough with praise, let's get to some criticism. I think that their pricing model is completely unfair on a salary parity basis, on PPP, etc. With average salary in US like what - 4000 USD and in Russia probably about 500 USD I would expect that the Russian version would be priced a lot more affordably. Take Data Science course - 25% of a monthly salary for a US citizen and 3 monthly salaries for a Russian citizen.

@ruslani Hey Ruslan, thanks for an honest opinion! I understand your concern here. We aim to provide the best results for our students at affordable pricepoint. One can argue that we're doing just that in Russia, as the majority of our competitors are priced higher, up to 2-3x for some programs. Can we price it lower? Yes, but not by much. By maintaining a small margin (a fraction of the price, really) we can fuel improvements to our product, ensuring that our students will still receive best experience and relevant skills. Besides, with current employment rates of our students sitting at 70%, we still have a lot of ground to cover which requires investing resources in the employment services team.
As for the US pricing, we believe that a low price would help us admit more motivated learners and bring more value to the American audience than we otherwise could in this admittedly way more competitive market.

@anton_eremin Thank you for your answer. BTW does the PH code work on Russian Practicum?

@ruslani nope, I'm afraid it's US only. One thing you can do to get a bit of a discount is get a Yandex Plus subscription ;)

You mention that students develop a portfolio of up to 15 projects. Can you give an example of what some of those projects are?
@mabel_h This really depends on the program you choose. For example, in the Web Development program, you start with a landing page and learn to turn a complex design spec into code, then you create a web app using JavaScript. Eventually, you'll start working with React, and then you'll learn the basics of back-end development to help you with your final project. You can read more about each program on our website.
We also have additional team projects where you build something useful with your classmates, such as a landing page for an NGO.

Is the 20% discount through Phunters still available? I’m unable to determine how to locate or use it.

Hi Hunters! I’m Anton Eremin, Head of Product at Practicum by Yandex. Special thanks to Chris who agreed to hunt us today. We really appreciate it!
The edtech market has evolved dramatically over the last few years. These changes have only intensified in recent months due to the impact of COVID-19. Many people with “traditional” jobs have suddenly found themselves unemployed and searching for new careers. Meanwhile, the tech sector is still having trouble finding skilled professionals to fill vacancies.
Let’s jump back to 2018. The problems in tech were pretty much the same as they are now. Amid rapid growth in emerging technologies, the kinds of jobs that needed to be done were changing, as were the skills needed to do them. As Russia’s biggest tech company, Yandex was not immune to these difficulties. So, to address the issue, we conducted internal research to find out what kind of professionals the market needed and how we could solve this problem. The result was the February 2019 launch of Practicum, a fully supportive online bootcamp designed to help self-driven individuals land the tech jobs of their dreams 💎
Since then, 70% of our job-seeking graduates have been hired. We believe we can replicate our success on a global scale. That’s why we’re here ✨
