Toolbit is a local-first workbench with 43 developer utilities (JSON, JWT, regex, diffs, certificates, SQL, YAML) running 100% offline in your browser or desktop app (macOS, Windows, Linux). Why it stands out: • True Privacy: Payloads never leave your device. Zero telemetry. • Smart Paste ('/'): Recognizes any payload and routes directly to the tool. • Keyboard-First: Global ⌘K command palette, tabs, split diffs. • Fast & Open Source: Built with CodeMirror 6 & Tauri v2.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm Alwin, the creator of Toolbit.
Why I built Toolbit
Like many engineers, I found myself daily having to format an unreadable JSON payload, inspect an incoming JWT from Auth0, compare two config files, or debug a regex.
Search Google for "jwt decoder" or "json pretty print", and you’re handed ad-heavy sites tracking your keystrokes or proxying your payloads through cloud servers. Pasting production API keys, customer PII, or internal tokens into random websites always felt like a disaster waiting to happen.
I built Toolbit to be the utility workbench I actually wanted to use:
Local-first and zero payload leaks: All transformations happen in Web Workers on your machine. Payloads are never persisted, never placed in URLs, and never sent across the network.
Keyboard-first and fast: Press / from anywhere and paste. Toolbit recognizes the syntax and routes directly to the tool. Press ⌘K to jump anywhere in milliseconds.
Web and native desktop: Run it in the browser at https://toolbit.app, install it as an offline PWA, or download the native Tauri v2 desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux.
Desktop lockdown: The desktop app runs under a locked-down CSP allowing zero network access, and packages a ~24MB on-device model (mxbai-embed-xsmall-v1) so semantic search works completely offline.
Toolbit is 100% free and open-source.
I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and what tools or features you'd like to see next! 🚀
