A lot of paid apps are a monthly subscription wrapped around open models you could run yourself. Toolbay rebuilds them as free, open-source apps that run on your own computer, all in one free launcher for Mac and Windows. The first is Toolbay Flow: hold a key, speak, let go, and clean text appears in any app. Speech and cleanup run locally. No account needed, no word limits, no subscription. MIT licensed, and more rebuilds are on the way.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Orion and I made Toolbay.
A lot of the apps people pay for every month are a thin shell around open models that can run on a normal computer. Toolbay takes those apps one at a time and rebuilds them as free, open-source versions that run locally, with no account and no subscription. They all live in one free launcher for Mac and Windows.
The first one is Toolbay Flow, a free take on Wispr Flow:
- Hold a shortcut, talk, let go: text lands wherever your cursor is
- Cleans up fillers and "no wait" corrections, adds punctuation, formats lists and emails
- Command mode: select text and say "make this friendlier" or "translate to Spanish"
- A dictionary that learns your names and terms, snippets, styles per app
- 99 languages, works offline
Speech recognition (whisper.cpp) and cleanup (a small Qwen model) run on your machine. No telemetry, nothing sent anywhere unless you add your own cloud key or choose to sync settings with a Toolbay account.
Get Toolbay Flow here (it installs through the free Toolbay app, which opens straight to Flow): https://toolbay.ai/tools/toolbay...
Windows is tested. The Mac build is new, so tell me if anything is off. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will ask you to confirm.
