A minimal Markdown reader for macOS, built in Swift. Read notes, plans and reports from AI coding agents without opening a code editor. Renders tables, code blocks, task lists, footnotes, local images and Mermaid diagrams offline. Search text, follow links between Markdown files in the same window, and see changes reload automatically. Supports light and dark mode. No account, no telemetry, and no changes to your documents. Free and MIT licensed. Requires Apple silicon and macOS 14 or later.
Hi Product Hunt! Coding agents leave plenty of Markdown files behind, including plans, notes and reports. Sometimes you just want to read them without opening a code editor.
Tim’s Markdown Reader is a small macOS app built in Swift. Open a Markdown file, read it, close it. Mermaid diagrams render offline, Find lets you search the document, and links between Markdown files open in the same window. It reloads when the file changes and supports light and dark mode.
Reading works offline, with no account or telemetry. The app doesn’t modify or delete your documents. Web links and the download page open in your browser when you choose them.
A few limits up front: Apple silicon only, macOS 14 or later, and deliberately a reader rather than an editor. It’s free and open source under MIT, and the download is Developer ID-signed and notarized by Apple.
