@squirly4 Great to see what you've been working on. This is really great and going to be so useful for those of us at companies with constantly changing needs and strange short-term requirements for space we need to fill. Looking forward to seeing more SF spaces!
@lekanb We're helping brick and mortar small business' open their doors to brands and people. We started in Vancouver, B.C. when I needed a place for my own pop-up cafe back in 2013, and then helping my community of makers and designers find places for their events, workshops, productions. Our community grew together and as I helped them grow their brands, they helped me develop thisopenspace.
Breather is doing excellent work with on demand office spaces and Storefront is a good product focused on retail. SpaceHQ looks interesting, when are you headed north?
Seems like the Airbnb-ification of commercial spaces is happening really fast. Side note: The design of listings on thisisopen is almost an exact match of https://www.appearhere.co.uk/spa...
@philipjoubert Thanks for your feedback, Philip. There’s so many kinds of people from makers to event planners who need access to short-term commercial space, so we’re excited to have created thisopenspace to help, and are seeing a lot of quick growth in the market. We are aware of some design similarities between many space listing sites like showing calendars on the right, and displaying amenities/images/map on the left, and it is my focus to make sure we can continue to differentiate and make the design, UX and features offered at thisopenspace the best it can be for our users!

@philipjoubert well, there is so much un-utilized commercial space around the world. These platforms have a place in a changing and evolving market.

I am considering renting or buying a building in Eastern Suburbs. To do this, I contacted a real estate agent and now we are together looking for the perfect office space for my company. What do you think of it?

seems like an amazing resource for offsite event planning - would love to see more coverage in Boston and other major cities

Love this!!! Here are two things I would love to see in Vancouver in true pop-up style:
- I once went to Provo, Utah and discovered the after-hours blues dancing event Light Blues (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/light-blu...) at one of the local coffee shops there. Probably one of the most unexpected and amazing experiences I have had in a while! Would love to see one of the Vancouver coffee shops trying this one.
- A traveling after-hours makerspace at one of the local coffee shops, making it easier to work on your DYI project with others. This would be a great platform for Meetup groups to find venues to their events.
@kristoffervh Thanks for the love! Those are great suggestions. Our very own @squirly4 is quite the dancer and I'm sure would love to see Light Blues in Vancouver. You should ping our pals (and users) Here There Studio http://www.heretherestudio.com/ ...they put on some of the most creative events in town.
This is really well done, @yasharnijati. For e-commerce brands looking to try retail in a constrained and testable manner, this looks like a great resource.
@daveambrose Thank you. We really spent time to get to know our users, knocking on doors and scouting spaces for them. We found the same users who need retail space also need space to take their concept from ideation to execution. That means space for their offsite meetings to plan, production space to create content, and retail and event space to connect face to face with their communities. We're with our users at every step of the way and use what we learn in these early days to built technology that scales.
