I built this because every messaging app asks for your phone number, email, or real name before you can even send a message. That never made sense to me. Why does a messaging app need to know who I am?
theSHFT is a fully encrypted messenger that looks like a normal working calculator on your iPhone. You can open it and actually use it for math, and nobody would ever know it’s anything else. Type your PIN using the equals button and it unlocks a full messenger.
What makes it different:
* No phone number, email, or personal info to sign up — just pick a username
* End-to-end encrypted using the same protocol as Signal (X3DH key exchange + forward secrecy)
* Messages self-destruct on a timer you choose (5 seconds to 24 hours)
* Duress PIN — enter a different code and everything wipes instantly
* Sealed sender — even our server can’t see who sent a message
* The encryption library is open source on GitHub so anyone can verify it
I wrote every line of code myself, including the entire encryption library from scratch using TweetNaCl. No third-party encryption SDKs. No shortcuts.
The app is free on the App Store. Premium unlocks longer timers, more contacts, and media sharing.
