how does the workbook actually work in practice, is it more of a guided journal you fill out by hand or does it plug into any banking or budgeting apps to automate the tracking?

@ardacipd It’s actually a traditional hands-on guided journal that you fill out by hand (either physically or as a digital text download). It does not link to any banking apps, sync with credit cards, or use software tracking.
The idea is that you manually calculate your income, look at your goals, and map out your budget using their specific 10/50/40 framework. The manual aspect is fully intentional to force you to physically interact with your numbers and build better spending discipline.
The only tech part is on the TeenCapital Website, where they have a free 10/50/40 Income Splitter calculator. You plug your paycheck into that to get your numbers, and then write those amounts into the workbook tracker.
It normally costs $9 on their Gumroad Storefront, but you can use the discount code UM07FAD (Expires 7/18/2026) to get it for 50% off ($4.50)! Let me know if you end up trying it out.

💡 Bright idea
Love that this actually targets teens instead of generic adult budgeting advice. One idea from someone who works with high schoolers: add a short "talk track" page for starting these money conversations with parents, since most teens can't open a separate high-yield account or set up auto-transfers without a guardian's buy-in. A simple script and a checklist of what to ask could really boost completion.

love that the 10/50/40 split is automated right in the workbook, makes it way easier to actually stick to. the debt snowball section feels really practical for someone just starting out.
