I built The Bay Hollow Files after noticing something at every family gathering: my nephews and younger brother, all capable of real focus, spending the whole visit glued to their phones. When they got bored, I started giving them mystery/detective "find the culprit" cases instead of letting them reach for a screen. The change was noticeable — they were more present, more focused, and genuinely happier during the time we spent together. Most screen-free activity books solve this for about a week, then get abandoned once the puzzle is solved — there's nothing left to come back to. So instead of one puzzle, I built five connected case files, so finishing case one gives a real reason to want case two.
