Most tab managers want an account and quietly phone your data home. TabRack doesn't. Tab triage, folders, sessions, tab sleep, focus mode, a site blocker, and per-URL notes all run 100% locally with no login. The networked extras built-in AI, sync, payments are strictly opt-in and relayed through my own server, so no API key or account ever ships inside the extension. Powerful tab management that's private by default
love that this stays local first, the per url notes alone are a reason to try it. one thing i'd want is a way to export or back up my tab sessions and notes to a plain json file on my own machine, so i'm not locked in even if the extension goes away. that fits the privacy angle too.
Really appreciate the privacy-first stance, that sold me right away. One thing I'd love to see is a quick keyboard shortcut to save the current window as a named session and another to reopen that exact window later, maybe something like Cmd-Shift-S to stash and Cmd-Shift-R to restore. Being able to bounce between work and personal session bundles without clicking through menus would make this feel even snappier for daily use.
Love that it's local-first with no account required, that's the whole reason I'd try it. One thing that would seal the deal for me: cross-browser support, especially Firefox. Most tab managers lock you into Chrome and it feels unnecessary these days. Adding Firefox parity (and ideally Safari too) would massively widen the audience who actually care about privacy over convenience.
Love the local-first approach, especially that the AI is opt-in and not hardcoded with an API key. One thing that would seal the deal for me: a keyboard shortcut to instantly fold a tab into a "cold storage" group that unloads it from memory but keeps the URL and title searchable, so I can recover it later without it eating RAM in the background.
Honestly love that the network extras are opt-in and routed through your own server instead of some third party. That choice basically tells me you actually thought through the privacy angle instead of just slapping it on the landing page.
the local-only stance sold me, and tab sleep actually freed up a chunk of memory on my laptop. nice that sync is opt-in instead of shoved in your face.
