Here is my story about a solo developer: I tried for almost 3 years to create SwiphtNum to try to compete with or replace IBM SPSS, IBM SPSS Amos, and SmartPLS on macOS. At the beginning, I just feel frustrated about IBM SPSS's performance and speed on Apple chips. After I upgraded my macOS to the latest stable version, I found that IBM took several months to solve this compatibility problem on macOS. What's more, I hate their old Java Swing GUI, and I must pay even more to use IBM SPSS Amos only on Windows with terrible UI/UX! However, I didn't have a Windows PC at that time. I've had totally enough! So I tried my best day and night, working over 13 hours per day, to create SwiphtNum and its special computing engine and UI components. It is really hard. At the first time, I just want to create a GUI app to use existing R or Python packages. However, I find if I want to release it to the Apple App Store, I need to follow Apple's rules. And while I am in the middle of the development road of the first version. I found supporting macOS, iOS, and visionOS at the beginning by myself to be impossible. So, SwiphtNum currently only supports macOS. Eventually, I used tons of time on creating and maintaining SwiphtNum's own unique computing core. Finally, I use Swift and C to provide an amazing minimum size of the app and blazing speed and high performance. For reliability and credibility, I have verified SwiphtNum's results with R and Python's packages. I know I just created SwiphtNum, so it may have bugs or issues.
