Sprite Sheet Builder is a free browser-only sprite sheet maker for 2D game developers. Pack frames into a transparent sheet, split a sheet by grid or transparent-region detection, convert GIFs to sheets and back, and preview animations at 1-30 FPS. Exports PNG plus JSON or XML for Unity, Godot, Phaser and FNF. Files are processed locally and never uploaded; no sign-up.
Hi Product Hunt — I built Sprite Sheet Builder because every sprite-sheet tool I tried either wanted an upload, an install, or an account for something my laptop can do in a canvas.
Pack frames into one transparent sheet (grid or auto-pack, with padding/spacing and a 1–30 FPS preview), split an existing sheet back into frames by grid or transparent-region detection, convert GIFs to sheets and back, and export engine-ready metadata: Phaser/TexturePacker JSON, Unity's importer bundle, a Godot `.tres` SpriteFrames resource, and Sparrow XML for the Flixel family. The FNF generator groups actions and writes Sparrow XML plus a Psych Engine character JSON in one ZIP.
Everything is client-side — files never leave the browser, and the free path needs no sign-up. There is an AI sprite generator on the roadmap; it is not on sale yet, so today the tool is simply free.
Would love feedback from anyone who has fought with atlas metadata by hand.
