SplitCart is an iOS app for households that share groceries. Snap a receipt (on-device OCR fills the total), track who paid, and close each week with clear who-owes-whom settlements — including couples who share one “split.”
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m the maker of SplitCart.
The problem: in my household (and every roommate / couple setup I’ve seen), grocery money turns into a messy spreadsheet or a pile of Venmo I-owe-yous. Someone shops Costco, someone grabs milk mid-week, a couple shares one “portion,” and by Sunday nobody agrees on what’s fair.
What SplitCart does:
• Create a household and invite people with a link/code
• Snap grocery receipts — on-device OCR suggests the total and purchase date
• Track who paid into the current week
• Weight shares (e.g. a couple counts as 2 splits)
• Close the week and get a clear who-pays-whom settle-up
• Link multiple Apple logins to the same split when partners share one share
Privacy note: receipt OCR runs on-device. Sign in with Apple. No spreadsheet required.
It’s free while we learn from real households. I’d love blunt feedback from anyone who’s tried to split groceries with roommates, partners, or a family:
1. What’s confusing in the first 2 minutes?
2. What would you need before you’d trust it for a real week of receipts?
3. Anything you’d change about how “shares / splits” work?
Thanks for checking it out — happy to answer anything in the comments.
