For AI builders who fear bloat, bugs, and broken intent. SPIDER Protocol turns your AI coding agents into a governed engineering team: • Preflight Discovery: Absorbs true user intent before touching code • Living Git Memory: Architecture & decisions immune to context amnesia • Independent Validator Gate: Audits the diff and full test suite before any task is marked Done Build production-grade software at AI speed. 100% free & local.

Like everyone else, we've been navigating the agentic coding landscape. I'm an old-school, pre-AI-era software engineer — and I'll admit this shift put me through a bit of a crisis.
I started automating my workflow with AI back in 2023, with a PR review agent. As models improved, they got insanely better at codebase discovery and understanding, so the workflow evolved: AI-assisted task planning while I still wrote code myself, then AI review, and eventually I automated the coding part too.
Fast forward to 2026: frontier models have enough raw intelligence to handle the full software development lifecycle. Yet two problems stubbornly remain:
1. Building truly production-ready software is still hard
2. Maintaining a growing codebase without regressions is even harder
Today I'm open-sourcing a solution we've evolved over years and battle-tested on our own production codebases.
SPIDER Protocol is not another agent — it's a governance layer over the agents you already use (Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, Gemini CLI).
The core principle: run AI agents like a disciplined engineering team. Roles are separated the way real teams are — architect, planner, executor, validator — with honest peer review between them. The agent that writes code never grades its own work: a separate validator audits the contract chain, the git diff, and your full test suite before anything is marked Done. All project memory lives in plain Markdown/YAML committed to your repo, immune to context amnesia.
It directly attacks the failure modes we kept hitting: context amnesia, incomplete task execution, over-engineering, and logic duplication.
MIT-licensed, 100% free, runs locally — your code never leaves your machine.

A final note for the vibe coders: we've automated the software engineering discipline layer — the planning, the memory, the validation, the regression gates. You bring the vibes and build the stuff you dream of. Let the protocol make sure it ships with engineering discipline. 🕷️
Would genuinely love feedback — especially from folks maintaining brownfield repos where regression fear is real. Ask us anything!
