Speechcap is an AI-powered push-to-talk dictation app for Mac that turns your voice into polished text in seconds. Choose between cloud-based processing or fully local transcription and AI cleanup with Pro, where your voice never leaves your device. Supports 89 languages, with a free tier and Pro plans starting at just $3/month.

Hi Product Hunt π
Speechcap is privacy focused push-to-talk dictation for Mac: hold a key β Whisper transcribes β AI cleans up the filler and formatting β text lands wherever your cursor is. No window to open, no paste step.
It works two ways:
Cloud (default, includes the free tier): zero setup, transcribes instantly. Your audio is transient through the provider and never stored.
Fully on-device (Pro): download Whisper + IBM Granite 4 Micro and both transcription and cleanup run locally. Plane, firewall, no wifi β your voice never leaves the Mac.
Every other dictation tool I tried still sends cleanup to a cloud. That was the itch I wanted to scratch.
A few more things:
2,500 words/week free, no credit card.
89 languages, with translation on Pro.
PPP pricing β ~$3 in some regions, more in others. Not one US sticker for the whole world.
Honest tradeoffs:
Mac only today (Windows in beta).
Small team, newer than the big names. (But we ship fairly fast π)
Would genuinely love your feedback β AMA, I'll be here all day. What would make this a daily driver for you?
Excellent product! I use it regularly in my day-to-day work and have had a great experience with it. One feature I especially value is the ability to switch seamlessly between online and offline modes whenever needed. ππ
@dhruwang_jariwala19Β Hey Dhruwang, thank you for the Feedback β€οΈ
I used this product, and I have to say that the dictation is flawless, and so is the seamless switch between online and offline modes.
@melvin_jariwalaΒ Hey Melvin, thank you for the Feedback. Happy to have you as our Pro customer ππ»
Offline first sounds really promising to me, this can turn out to be better than @Wispr Flow then!
The user experience is very smooth
