Hi! 👋 We're the team behind CYME, a French startup building AI-powered tools for photographers. Today, we're excited to introduce Specio, our latest creation! The idea came from conversations with wildlife photographers. They spend incredible amounts of time observing and capturing nature, but identifying species and organizing thousands of photos can be a real challenge. We wanted to change that. So we built Specio: an app that recognizes 450,000 species, automatically enriches photos with species names and taxonomy, and lets photographers rediscover their work through a personal Tree of Life, maps, and timelines. One of our biggest challenges was making all this AI run entirely on your computer. No cloud processing, no uploading your photos. Just powerful AI that respects your privacy and your work. Does it work on video clips too, or only stills? And do I need Lightroom, or can it read a plain folder?

@adamvisu Good question! For now, Specio works with still images only, but we're already working on video support!

And no, you don't need Lightroom. Specio works directly with regular folders and supports most image formats (RAW, JPEG, TIFF, PSD, etc.).

It also works beautifully with DxO and Apple Photos, with Google Photos integration coming soon!

I had the ability to test it, it is incredible : recognize all the bird I shoot with no internet connection !
