I built it because I wanted one MIT-licensed canvas that could be a whiteboard, a live wired node graph, and a slide deck - (think Excalidraw+React Flow) without tying myself to a vendor sync stack or a paid production license. Three package entries: spatialboard — full board UI + engine spatialboard/engine — headless (no React), for tests/agents spatialboard/blocknote — opt-in blocknote It's 0.2, early: solo maintainer, thin tests (fixing that is first on the roadmap). Comparison: tldraw is more mature and ships multiplayer; Excalidraw is the best embeddable sketch surface. SpatialBoard's angle is MIT in dev and production + data flow + presentations + SBD (a markdown board format agents can read and write) in one engine.
