Soolo: Mobile support for panic attacks, anxiety & depression. Features tracker, guided breathing, meditation, AI chat & distraction games. Understand triggers, manage stress & track progress securely. Take the first step!

Hey Oğuzhan Yıldırım, congrats on launching Soolo! 👋 Creating a dedicated mobile support app for panic attacks, anxiety, and depression is incredibly important work. The combination of features – tracker, breathing exercises, meditation, AI chat, and even distraction mini-games – offers a really holistic approach to coping and understanding.
As we build AI tools for wellbeing (@UNI AI), it's great to see technology being applied thoughtfully to support mental health journeys. The emphasis on privacy and data security is also crucial and appreciated.
Question: How does the AI-Powered Chat Assistant balance providing guiding suggestions with simply listening non-judgmentally, especially during moments of high distress for the user?
Looks like a valuable and compassionate resource. Wishing you all the best with the launch! 🙏❤️🩹
@theo_l Hello! First off, thank you so much for your kind words and well wishes for the Soolo launch. 🙏
Regarding your excellent question; how our AI-powered chat assistant balances non-judgmental listening with offering guiding suggestions, especially during moments of high distress, was one of the core areas we focused on while developing Soolo. We achieve this balance in the following ways:
Prioritizing a Safe Space: In moments of high distress, the assistant's primary role is to accompany the user with compassion and without judgment. It provides a safe space to express current feelings and thoughts. The AI uses active listening techniques to help the user feel understood. At this stage, allowing for emotional release and validating the situation is essential, rather than immediately offering solutions or suggestions.
Situational Awareness and Adaptation: The AI tries to understand the level of distress based on the conversation's tone, the words used, and the user's past interactions. During crises or very intense emotional states, supportive and calming statements take precedence over proactive suggestions. When the user becomes a bit calmer or shows an orientation towards action (like asking "what can I do?"), the AI can shift to a more guiding mode.
User-Centric and Permission-Based Approach: Guiding suggestions (like breathing exercises, grounding techniques, a distracting game, or a calming meditation) are generally not imposed directly. Instead, they are offered by leaving control with the user, using questions like, "Would you like to try a breathing exercise right now?" or "Perhaps a short activity to distract your mind might help, what do you think?" If the user declines, the assistant continues to listen.
Step-by-Step and Gentle Guidance: Even when suggestions are offered, they are usually in the form of small, manageable steps. The aim is not to overwhelm the user, but to provide a simple and effective tool that can help them cope in that moment. If the situation seems to exceed the AI's capacity (e.g., if self-harm thoughts are expressed), it is programmed to direct the user towards seeking professional help or emergency resources.
Privacy and Trust: All these interactions occur within the framework of the privacy and data security principles we emphasize from the outset. This is a fundamental requirement for the user to feel safe and comfortable opening up.
In summary, our AI assistant has a dynamic structure, starting as an empathetic listener and transforming into a guiding partner based on the situation and user cues—gently, without pressure, and by offering options. Our goal is not to use technology to mimic the human touch, but to complement it and provide accessible support during difficult times.
Thank you again for your support and interest! ❤️🩹
