Hey everyone! 👋 I'm the creator of Soma Scratchpad.
The problem: If you work with AI coding assistants like Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor,
you've probably experienced this — error screenshots getting committed to Git, long
prompts that need editing but chat boxes truncate them, and temporary files scattered
everywhere on your desktop.
The solution: Soma Scratchpad is a floating, always-on-top staging area on your Windows
desktop. Ctrl+V to collect text, screenshots, or files. One click to copy content or
paths back to where you need them. Nothing lands in your project directory.
Key features:
- 📝 Text: Auto-generated summary titles, expand to edit inline, one-click copy
- 🖼️ Images: Screenshots stored in an isolated directory — never in your Git repo
- 📁 Files: Import via Ctrl+V or drag & drop, copy content or path
- ⭐ Dock / Favorites / All: Temporary staging with persistent favorites
- 🐱 Desktop cat: Minimizes to a small cat icon in the corner when you don't need it
It's free, open source (MIT), and built with Tauri 2 + Rust + Svelte 5. All data stays
local — no cloud, no telemetry.
Would love to hear your feedback! What features would make this more useful for your
workflow?
