Hey everyone!
I m the maker behind SliceReader. As I gear up for tomorrow s launch, I ve been thinking about the "PDF zoom struggle."
We have responsive everything websites, apps, emails but PDFs still force us to pinch and zoom like we re using a desktop monitor from the 90s.
I built SliceReader to "slice" these documents into a single-column, mobile-first flow. It s been an experiment that reached 72 countries during beta, and now I m curious:
What is the one thing that stops you from reading long-form PDFs on your phone?
1. The constant horizontal scrolling?
2. Eye strain from small text?
3. Complex multi-column layouts breaking your flow?
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m an indie developer with a background architecting systems for companies like Volvo and Pearson. Currently, I’m balancing my time between coding and studying Anthropology to understand how we can build more human-centric tools.
I built PWA app SliceReader, because I was annoyed by the "zoom struggle" while reading on my commute. It’s a work in progress, but after seeing 60+ installs from researchers and readers in 72 countries during our beta, I knew the frustration was universal.
Today’s launch is for everyone who has a library of PDFs they never read because mobile viewing is too painful. We’ve optimized the slicing logic for standard reports and books, and we’re fine-tuning complex layouts every day.
I’d love to hear your feedback on the "slicing" experience! I'll be here all day to answer questions.
Huge thanks goes to,
- Reddit r/FreeEBOOKS and r/ProductivityApps communities for the incredible early validation—hitting #1 all-time was the spark I needed to keep building.
- My first 30 'Founding Readers' who joined the beta and helped me fine-tune the slicing logic for mobile users worldwide.
Cheers,
Sali
