I purchased a resume, cover letter, and linked in profile update for $200. I was not satisfied at all with the end result. It was quite apparent that the writer's first language was not English. I requested a refund. I was forced to go through a rewrite to be considered for a refund. I was still unsatisfied with the result. I would never have sent that resume to any employer. All they refunded was 10%. Avoid the paid services form Skillroads, you will not be satisfied.

Dear Michael, We are profoundly upset not to have met your expectations. Nevertheless, we have to clarify the situation. You ordered Resume Writing + Cover Letter Writing + LinkedIn Profile Editing + Follow up/Thank you letter. After the order was completed, you emailed us saying that you were not happy with the results and the cover letter was not of the quality expected, so you asked for a refund. When we asked to clarify which aspects had to be amended, you said that you did not have time for this, so our writer did not even know what was wrong except the stiff and poor English mentioned by you. We reminded you that you had 3 free revisions according to our Terms of Service, and you gave us a chance to improve your experience with us. As promised, we assigned our best writer to work on the revision. Prior to the assignment, this particular writer had been picked based on the overwhelming majority of positive feedback from other customers. Before submitting the revised files to you, our Quality Assurance Department (QAD) checked the order. They concluded that the content quality is adequate. Taking into account your previous feedback about the cover letter, we did everything in our power to polish it. The resolution by the QAD stated that the writer had done a diligent job amending the cover letter. However, despite the writer’s efforts to meet your expectations and the cover letter being a focal point of your complaints, the system log showed that you did not download the revised document. Moreover, you did not download the follow-up letter, neither before nor after the revision. After the revision, you have also expressed concerns about the layout. In the first email we received, you explicitly stated that it was one of the things you liked about the resume and may use it in the future. To add to it, after the revision, you raised complaints about the competencies that you claimed were inaccurate. The competencies were not found in your original resume, and seeing that they are a required part of a resume, the writer analyzed which competencies are required for the position you are applying for and added them. You must understand that the writer cannot deliver something you are fully satisfied with without explicit remarks from you. So far, the only complaints you’ve raised were the bookish style in the resume and poorly written cover letter, both of which have been amended. We did everything in our power to improve the documents based on the scarce feedback you’ve given us. The reason for the refund was that you simply did not like anything about the resume/cover letter (forgive us for repeating ourselves, but you did not even download the revised cover letter). However, we respect your decision to want your money back for receiving a service you deemed unsatisfactory, and that is why have a review procedure where the QAD checks every order and advises the sum of refund. The QAD reviewed the papers once again, comparing the issues you’ve indicated and the results, and their resolution was that the writer did a thorough job working on the order with all the standards complied to. While we care about your satisfaction with our services, there were no legitimate points of concerns raised as concluded by the QAD, hence all we could offer was a 10% refund. We did our best to make your experience with us positive, but we could not establish a clear line of communication with you to deliver documents you would be satisfied with. We are sorry for not living up to your expectations and will work on improving our services based on your valuable feedback.

Pros:

Great resume builder has generated a well-crafted resume. It writes everything instead of me. I would never do it by myself.

Cons:

You have to wait for your free resume for 30 min.

I really wanted to recommend this product, it's such a great concept, but after using the "Smart Resume Review" tool, I was left a bit disappointed.

After analyzing my resume, the review gave very vague and generic advice that was either not helpful, or not accurate.

For example, the tool said my "contact info was missing," when it's literally on the second line in large bold font. It also said things like I used "too many and too few bullet points," I'm not sure what that even means

Simple, easy to use interface. Great concept and idea!

We're working now on fixing results for Smart Resume Review to make it more personalized and provide efficient hints what needs to be improved and what is good in a resume. thats a story, when you managed to built models for analyzing and prediction for entered data, although not the way yet how to explain and show properly insights of pros and cons of each resume :) so we're working on it now and gonna show some updates soon. thanks!

Unfortunately underwhelmed by this product given the attention it got on Product Hunt. The free resume analyzer points out things (only some of which I agree with), but doesn't point out specifics. It does, however, give you a promo code to hire a resume writer. Then there is the AI-generated resume. It appears many jobs aren't in their database yet, and of the ones that are, you select generic skills such as "passionate about building new products" and "able to evaluate new technologies and solutions". Not too confident about the quality of the output (at least for US-based hiring managers).

@cbenkendorf thank you for your feedback, highly appreciated! Honestly saying - its just beginning for us, and there is a long way ahead. Smart Resume Review, we've built the algorithms, although at the moment working on customization of results to provide more personal feedback and of course more accurate on each resume. As for the database, it updates real time as soon as we're getting more data from our sources to analyze and build prediction for the accurate wording, skills, tools, etc for each resume. Stay tuned!
