Hey Product Hunt!
I built Silence Me because Shush kept betraying me. One key to mute my mic, great idea, but every few weeks it silently stopped working, disappeared, just generally glitchy.
Turns out that is a real bug: macOS shuts off the key-listening tap when it gets slow, and Shush never re-arms it, so it goes dead and you never notice.
Silence Me does the same job, one key mutes your mic across every app, but it watches for that shutoff and re-arms itself instantly. You pick the key and the sound, and it lives in the menu bar. Signed and notarized by Apple, no Gatekeeper warnings.
Free 7-day trial, then $4.99 once, no subscription.
I built this and thought I would share it with you.

One thing I'd love to see is a status bar menu icon that shows whether your mic is currently muted or live at a glance, so you don't have to guess after hitting the hotkey. Would be especially handy in noisy video calls.

The buy-once model and the "never silently stops working" promise is really refreshing, so many mute utilities just quit on you out of nowhere. Nice clean execution for a tiny tool.
