ShortMatic turns long videos into reviewable YouTube Shorts, TikTok clips, and Reels. AI finds moments, you approve, then export with captions. Upload a file or import a supported YouTube URL. Get a queue of clip candidates, fix captions, and export vertical 9:16 files. Built for creators who already have podcasts, tutorials, or interviews — not a CapCut-style effects timeline. Maker here. I built ShortMatic because cutting podcasts, tutorials, and interviews into Shorts by hand was eating the whole week.
You upload a file or import a supported YouTube URL. AI proposes clip windows. You review them, fix captions, and export 9:16 for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Reels. It will not invent footage that is not in the file — if you ask for a player who is not in the video, you will not get that player.
I am not trying to replace CapCut. If you need templates and motion graphics, CapCut still wins. If you already have a long video and want a reviewable clip queue, that is the job.
Would love honest feedback from anyone who uses Opus Clip or CapCut today — especially what you still have to do by hand after the AI pass.
