Plant managers calling their teams every morning asking "aaj kitna pending hai?" while a crore-rupee ERP sits untouched because it wasn't designed for floor-level people. The AI assistant is the piece I care about most. On real Indian manufacturing floors, people speak Hindi. They don't type queries into dashboards. So I built voice input that works in Hindi and English. Say "kaunsa material kam hai?" and get your answer instantly. Three things I learned building this: Scoping is the hardest PM skill. A full ERP has 15+ modules. I picked one — production tracking — and made it work end to end. Everything else is V2. BOM data modeling is deceptively complex. A many-to-many relationship between products and raw materials with quantity multipliers, and you need atomic inventory deduction when orders complete. This is where most ERP side projects break. AI context-stuffing beats RAG at small scale. When your data fits in the prompt, skip the vector database. Better accuracy, zero infrastructure. V2 is planned: workstation capacity planning, OEE metrics, shift management, and procurement automation. Would love feedback from anyone who's worked in manufacturing or operations.
