I'm Filippo, the creator of ShiftConvert.
The idea actually came from a pretty simple frustration. I kept finding myself needing to convert random files, whether it was WAV to MP3 while producing music, images into different formats, or PDFs into something else.
Every time, I'd have to open another app, search for an online converter, upload the file, download it again... all for something that should take a few seconds.
So I thought, why not make file conversion feel like a natural part of macOS?
That's how ShiftConvert started. Just hold Shift, drag your file, choose a format, and you're done.
I wanted to keep it as minimal as possible. No complicated menus, unnecessary features or subscriptions. Just a simple tool that does its job and stays out of your way.
I'm also a student, so keeping it affordable was important to me. That's why I made it available from £3.50, with the option to pay more if you'd like to support the project.
This is my first Product Hunt launch, and I'd genuinely appreciate any feedback, especially on the interface, workflow and what file formats you'd like to see supported.
