Shear adds real cut-and-paste file actions to macOS Finder. Use ⌘X to cut files and ⌘V to move them instantly. Just one of the missing features macOS users have wanted for years!
Hey peeps! Shear is a small open-source macOS utility that adds something Finder still doesn’t have: real cut and paste for files.
P.S. It also feels much more natural for people who switch between Windows and macOS regularly. Would love to hear your feedback! 🙌

I’m a huge believer that the best tools should be invisible so we can stay in deep flow. As a solo founder building a workspace for writers (Gridance Studio), I know how even a tiny friction in file management can break concentration. This fills a massive gap in Finder! Does Shear handle file name conflicts as seamlessly as the native paste function? Great work on this!

Hey Aayush.....awesome use case! Going to bookmark this to test it out properly this weekend. Also launching my own tool today, so I know the launch day nerves are real. Best of luck to the team!
