Hi Product Hunt! 👋 In my previous job, I worked with several reputation management firms and noticed a major deficiency: they weren't tracking YouTube video mentions. I then decided to develop my own independent solution. Initially, I created a complex script using Excel VBA and yt-dlp. I used this manually for a long time. Then, with the help of AI, I transformed it into a compiled, portable Windows desktop application called SentryScript. Here's what it does in the background: - It uses the open-source yt-dlp for interaction with YouTube. - It scans the subtitles of the most recently uploaded videos to your target channels. - All subtitle parsing and regex matching happens entirely in RAM. It never writes the actual subtitle content to your disk or sends it to a cloud database. It only saves the metadata (date, video title, and a clickable timestamped URL) locally. - It runs in the background at specific intervals (12/24/48 hours). Indie Dev Note: I am an independent developer and didn't want to pay certification fees for this type of tool. From a messy Excel VBA script to a standalone Windows App

SentryScript didn't start as a professional tool. It started as a personal Excel VBA script because I was frustrated that expensive PR tools were missing YouTube mentions.

After using it internally for a long time, I decided to polish it and turn it into a portable app with the help of AI. It s been a wild ride of regex matching and yt-dlp integration.
