SecFolder

Hi Product Hunt community! 👋 The idea is an app that restricts access to certain folders for specific apps only. MacOS already has this feature, but unfortunately, it works only for a small number of predefined folders like Documents, Desktop, etc. (except for sandboxed apps from the App Store that have wider restrictions). SecFolder basically allows you to turn any folder into a protected one, similar to Documents. Any unauthorized attempt to access this folder by a random app is restricted, and the user is notified about the attempt. The app also has an audit log where you can monitor which apps are accessing your data. This is probably a niche app, but my primary motivation comes from my daily routine where I often download different macOS apps. Sometimes these apps request access to Documents, and some even want Full Disk Access permission. I needed a tool that would give me confidence that, for example, my personal finance spreadsheet is only accessed by apps I trust, such as Numbers, Finder, etc. I would really appreciate any feedback and am ready to answer any questions! Have you ever felt anxious that some dev tool, app, or script could potentially steal data from your Mac, or am I just being paranoid? :) I'd love to hear your feedback and answer any questions!
