macOS has one scroll direction for every device. Scrollwise sees which one you're using: natural on the trackpad and Magic Mouse, classic on a wheel mouse. Free. Optional Pro ($2.99 once) adds speed, smooth scrolling, button actions and per-app settings.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Aqib. I make small Mac utilities on my own, and Scrollwise is the one I use every day.
I work on the MacBook trackpad and plug in a wheel mouse at my desk. macOS has one Natural scrolling switch for both, so one of them always scrolls backwards, and I was flipping that switch several times a day. Scrollwise sees which device each scroll comes from and sets the direction for that device. The trackpad stays natural, the wheel mouse scrolls the classic way, and Apple's Magic Mouse is recognised on its own and scrolls like the trackpad it really is. There's nothing to switch when a mouse connects.
That part is free and stays free.
2.0 is the big update. Once the direction was sorted, the next complaints were about the mouse itself: every mouse scrolls at the same speed, the wheel jumps a few lines a notch, and the side buttons do nothing on a Mac. Scrollwise Pro is $2.99 once for 2 Macs, with a 7-day trial you start when you want it, and adds:
scroll speed for each device, smooth scrolling for wheel mice, an acceleration curve and lines per notch
pointer speed per mouse, with acceleration off if you like it straight
side and middle buttons for back and forward, Mission Control, App Exposé or any shortcut, and hold-to-scroll
Shift to scroll sideways, Option for precision, Command to zoom
per-app settings, and profiles that switch when a mouse or display connects
a filter for worn wheels, ignoring the trackpad while you type, and scroll stats in blue whales
The settings only show what each device really has, so a two-button mouse never sees side-button options. It runs on macOS 14 or later, is notarized by Apple and has no analytics.
Which mouse do you use with your Mac, and what does it still get wrong?
