👋 Hey everyone! Chis and I are pleased to introduce screensnaps, which is a developer tool used to take automated screenshots via HTML or URLs via a RESTful API. I've been using various tools to turn HTML/URLs into screenshots over the years for various projects and always ran into numerous issues.
Either the pricing was astronomical for a small start up, hosting your own involved heavy dependencies and management or the software you used didn't support standard CSS or Custom Fonts.
I discovered Google Puppeteer, and started to use it via my local environment, and realized that it is VERY powerful, but hard to set up and fine-tune for mass scale. Thus, Chris and I decided to wrap it up as a service for other developers to use with the key principles of "speed" and "ease of use". When building developers tools, making it super easy to use, learn and implement is one the most important aspects of your product. This is why we have taken time to document specific situations and scenarios as well as native libraries for NodeJS, PHP, Ruby and Go to get started in as little as 30 seconds.
That's how screensnaps was born, and we aim to offer a very generous free tier of 1,000 screenshots per month, which allows all developers of all sizes to use the service. We also offer a professional plan for $19 which gives you 5,000 screenshots per month and other pro features like high resolution images, and full page screenshots.
Today we are launching in early beta, and encourage everyone to check it for their automated screenshot needs. As a celebration, we are offering new users 50% off their first month of the Professional Plan with the code: PRODUCTHUNTLAUNCH
Open to any feedback, suggestions or general discussion! 🙌
