Hi everyone, maker here. I built ScanDent because of a gap I kept running into myself. Between dentist visits I had no idea whether my teeth were getting better or worse. You brush every day and get zero feedback until someone tells you, once a year, that something has gone wrong. So ScanDent does this: you take mouth photos from three angles, and an AI-powered analysis gives you a 0–100 dental score covering plaque, enamel staining and gum appearance, plus a daily care plan and progress tracking over time. Two decisions shaped the product. One selfie was not enough, since your front teeth can look fine while the lower jaw tells a different story, so the scan is split into three guided angles. And I did not want the score to depend only on the image. Thirty percent of it comes from your own habits, which means the score moves even when the photo stays the same. The third decision was not mine. A friend pointed out that picking up your phone while brushing is not practical, so I built out the watchOS side: checklist, a two-minute quadrant brushing timer and streaks, in sync with the iPhone. To be clear about what this is not: ScanDent does not diagnose anything and is not a replacement for a dentist. It exists to make your own habits visible between appointments. The 3-angle scan was way easier than I expected and the gum health score actually flagged something my dentist had mentioned last visit. Love that it's upfront about not being a diagnosis.

honestly looks pretty neat, especially the whitening preview part. one thing that would make it way more useful for me though is adding a quick export to my dentist, like a pdf summary they can actually pull up before my appointment. would save so much back and forth explaining what's been going on at home
