Tap right ⌘ and speak. Saydown turns what you say into sticky notes on your Mac desktop — and when one is due, it comes and finds you. No account, no cloud, nothing collected.

Hi Product Hunt 👋
I kept losing thoughts on the way to writing them down. So I built Saydown.
How it works:
- Tap right ⌘ and say what's on your mind — "pick up Anna at six… and we're out of coffee"
- Every thought becomes its own sticky note on your desktop — timed if you said a time, in whatever language you spoke
- White = no time. Amber = counting down. Red = due — the note floats above every window and glows until you deal with it
The idea behind it: a notification vanishes the moment you swipe it.
A sticky note can't be swiped away.
Honest notes:
- Free beta. No account, no analytics — everything runs on your Mac
- Optional: add your own API key (Anthropic / OpenAI / DeepSeek) and it rewrites rambling into clean notes. Without one, notes keep your exact words
- macOS warns once on first open (notarization lands before 1.0): System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway
Tell me where it breaks and what you wish it did — I read everything: hello@saydown.com

love how simple this is, no accounts or syncing fuss really appeals to me. one thing i'd find super useful is being able to mark a note as a recurring reminder, like every monday morning it pops back up until i actually dismiss it properly. would basically turn it into a lightweight habit tracker for folks like me who forget to drink water

@kadriye3zo7 recurring is a great idea! the whole app is built on one thing: reminders that stay until you deal with them. a weekly reminder fits that perfectly. it's not in the beta yet, but your drink-water example convinced me -- it's on my list now :)

A sticky note that says "due at 3pm" sitting quietly on my desktop is helpful, but if it could also nudge me with a single, gentle notification sound about 10 minutes beforehand, that would save me from missing deadlines without being noisy about it.

@asiyeaksen43189 ok funny thing, i deliberately didn't build notifications because i ignore literally all of mine 😅 so instead the note itself floats up over your windows and glows when it's due, with one soft chime right at that moment
but you're right, a quiet sound a bit before the deadline isn't really a notification… it's more like someone tapping you on the shoulder. i like it. adding it to the list :)
one thing i can't decide though -- should it always be 10 min, or depend on the task? 10 min is right for a phone call, useless for "prep the deck". what's your gut say?

The sticky notes showing up right on the desktop feels really natural, and being able to just press a key and talk into one is genuinely handy. I was surprised how quiet it stays on the system, no syncing or accounts popping up to get in the way.

@feyzakoklusoy thank you! really happy it feels that way in real use. if anything ever gets in your way, tell me: hello@saydown.com

The hotkey approach feels so much faster than opening a notes app, and the fact that notes literally float back to remind me is a clever touch. Really appreciate that nothing leaves my Mac.

@satd7og thank you! the floating-back part came from my own bad habit, i swipe away every notification and then forget everything, a note that comes back was the only thing that worked on me. happy it clicks for you too :D
