Hey everyone! 👋
We built SAT Duels because SAT prep is broken: it's just flashcards and boring practice tests, and honestly, most students (including us) end up burning out before test day.
We're a team of 5 college students who all went through the SAT grind ourselves, and we kept asking: why does this have to feel like homework? Games like chess.com and tetr.io made us realize competition and ranking systems make people actually want to practice. So we built an ELO-based matchmaking system and turned SAT prep into head-to-head duels where you're racing a real person, not just a timer.
The hardest part was probably the question bank. Getting enough high-quality, categorized SAT Math and English questions to make matchmaking feel fair and fresh was way harder than we expected. We also went through a few different tech stacks before landing on something that could handle real-time matches smoothly.
We're still early and actively building, so we'd genuinely love your feedback. What would make this better, what's missing, anything that feels off. Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

💡 Bright idea
This is such a smart way to make SAT prep less painful. One thing that would make it even better is a post-match breakdown showing which specific question types you missed most, so you know exactly where to focus your studying between duels.

@gkhan193693 Thanks for the advice! We actually already have such a feature giving a post match breakdown, if you want to try it out!

honestly the elo ladder hook got me, way better than grinding another flashcard app. matched with someone in like 10 seconds and the math duel was way more intense than i expected.

@aryaferhatqjfv Haha thats great! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy to hear that we have enough users to make matchmaking not too long.

The head-to-head format is genuinely fun, way more engaging than grinding through practice tests alone. Caught myself wanting one more rematch after losing on a vocab question.
