RUUN is a Tor Browser-based browser built around one simple idea: stop switching between browsers. It gives you two completely separate modes — Tor Mode for Tor-routed, hardened browsing and Direct Mode for normal persistent browsing with its own profile, cookies, bookmarks, logins, and history. RUUN also brings back a classic early-web UI instead of another modern browser interface.

I built RUUN because I got tired of switching between Tor Browser, Firefox, and Brave depending on what I was doing. Tor was great when I needed Tor, but not something I wanted for everyday browsing. Firefox became my daily browser, but I wasn't happy with its performance or UI. Brave solved some of that, but I didn't want all the extra features or another Chromium-based browser. So I decided to build the browser I actually wanted. RUUN has two separate modes: Tor Mode and Direct Mode, with completely separate profiles. I also went back to a classic early-2000s-style interface because I was tired of every browser looking and behaving the same. RUUN is open source, and I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.

Would you actually use a browser with separate Tor and Direct modes?

RUUN was built around a problem I personally had: I didn't want to keep switching between Tor Browser for privacy-sensitive browsing and another browser for normal daily browsing.

RUUN keeps the two environments separate Tor Mode uses an amnesic Tor profile, while Direct Mode has its own persistent profile for normal browsing.

I m curious: would you find this useful in your daily browsing, or would you still prefer keeping Tor and your normal browser completely separate?

Also, what would you want RUUN to improve before you would actually use it?
