Every clip means leaving Premiere: search, download, dig through Downloads, import. Runner puts stock footage sites inside the panel, so you grab a clip and drag it onto the timeline without breaking the edit. It also converts codecs Premiere cannot decode, such as AV1 and VP9, which otherwise import as audio with no picture. Windows. Premiere Pro 2020 to 2026. Free in beta.

I built this because I was losing the thread of an edit forty times a day.
Every clip meant leaving Premiere, searching, downloading, digging through Downloads for a file called video-8574281.mp4, and importing it. The clock cost is small. The cost of leaving the edit is not.
The part I did not expect to build: Premiere cannot decode AV1, and handles VP9 badly. A lot of web video is one or the other, so clips land on your timeline as audio with an empty video track and nothing tells you why. Runner now checks the codec of everything it downloads and converts it before you see it. I only found that one because a tester told me his 4K downloads were "importing but broken".
It is Windows only, and it is genuinely beta. A handful of editors use it. I would much rather hear what is broken than what is good, so if you try it and something annoys you, tell me. There is a Feedback button in the panel that reaches me directly.
Free while it is in beta, no email needed to download.
