Hello Product Hunt!
I'm the creator of RotaFlow.
As the partner of an ER nurse, I've witnessed firsthand the frustration she faced trying to manage shift work with the existing shift work apps out there. They're either functional but unimpressive, or, worse, unappealing, with popup ads and location tracking enabled by default.
Shift workers are the backbone of the world, but the shift work apps out there are stuck in the stone ages, circa 2015.
What sets RotaFlow apart?
**Apple-Level Craftsmanship**
RotaFlow isn’t a "web wrapper" like the rest, but a fully native SwiftUI app, complete with CoreHaptics for the tactile feedback when you dial in your shift work schedule, and Metal for the smooth mesh gradients used for the shift type (day, night, off).
**Privacy by Default**
RotaFlow is "Local-First." Your shift work schedule lives locally, syncing up with your own iCloud account, but never touching my servers. There are zero account requirements, and zero tracking SDKs.
**The Loop Engine**
Rather than creating thousands of entries in a database, I created my own Loop Engine, using mathematical modular arithmetic to compute shift patterns, allowing for complex rotations (like 4-on/4-off, or 2-2-3) infinitely far out with zero performance hit.
**Fair, Sustainable Pricing**
RotaFlow is completely free for immediate use, but if you want to plan further than 30 days out, I’ve refused to follow the aggressive "free to use, forever to subscribe" business model common in this space.
What would you like to see improved in the interaction design? Specifically, the "haptic dial" for setting up shift patterns?
