Hey Product Hunt 👋 I wanted to see when AI coding agents start showing up in the git history of projects I use every day, at least where the history says so. Rings cuts a repo open like a log. The pith is the first commit and the bark is today, one ring per month, wider when the month was busier. Coloured arcs show the share of each month's commits whose history discloses an AI co-author (a Co-authored-by, Assisted-by or "AI-assisted" line), an AI agent's own account (Copilot, Devin, Jules, opencode…), or a bot-named account. A few things from the gallery, all from public history: • VS Code: commits with an AI co-author trailer (almost all Copilot) went from 5% in January to 68% in September. • Bun: Claude co-author trailers peaked at 62% of commits in February, while monthly commits grew from 175 to 1,042 by August. • Node.js: commits with an Assisted-by line naming an AI tool rose from 11% in July to 36% in September. One caveat I care about: disclosure is not usage. Trailers follow tool settings, squash merges and agents that commit under their own accounts, so a ring with no colour means no signal, never "written by a human". Every page says so.
