Hi Product Hunt! 👋 Most diff tools show which lines changed. Rift shows what actually changed. 📁 Detect moved files ⚙️ Smart JSON, YAML & XML diffs 📊 Compare Excel & CSV by row ID 🖼️ Image sliders & heatmaps ⚡ Compare 1 GB files in ~13 seconds 🌿 Git history & merge conflict resolution 🔒 100% local. Nothing uploaded. Plus, a CLI for scripts and CI. We’d love your feedback! What should we build next?

Hi Product Hunt!
I’ve used diff tools for years, and one thing always bugged me. They show which lines changed, but not what changed.
Say I move a function to the bottom of a file. My diff tool shows 40 lines deleted and 40 lines added, when really one thing moved. Or a formatter touches the whole file and I can’t find the one real change.
So I built Rift to show what really changed:
Code: you see a list of the functions and classes that changed. Moved code shows as “moved”. Renamed code shows as “renamed”. Formatting is ignored. On my test files, this meant reading about a third of the lines.
Merge conflicts: if you and a teammate changed different functions, Rift keeps both changes for you.
Folders: a moved file shows as moved, not as deleted and added.
JSON, YAML, Excel, CSV: you see the exact setting or cell that changed.
Images: compare them with a slider or a heatmap.
Big files: two 1 GB files compare in about 13 seconds.
It works on Windows, Mac and Linux. Everything runs on your computer, and nothing is uploaded.
It’s still early, and I’d really love your honest feedback. What annoys you most about diff tools today? What should I build next?
Thanks for checking it out!
