Bring your own SOCKS5 proxy and make it more flexible with ReSocks. Connect to your existing SOCKS5 through a secure TLS relay while keeping your chosen proxy as the final exit. Use TUN mode to route traffic system-wide, or create per-app and website rules to choose what goes through the proxy and what connects directly. Share proxy access with devices on your LAN, choose from global relay locations, or deploy your own relay for complete control.
Hey Product Hunt! I’m the maker of ReSocks.
ReSocks is a TLS relay for the SOCKS5 proxy you already use. Bring your own server or an existing residential, mobile, or third-party SOCKS5 endpoint. ReSocks handles the connection to it, while that proxy remains your exit.
The problem behind ReSocks is simple: having the right proxy doesn’t always mean you can use it comfortably from your current network, every app, or another device. Direct access can be unreliable, and switching to a VPN provider’s exit means giving up the endpoint you chose.
I built ReSocks around keeping those choices separate: your proxy, the path to it, and the traffic you send through it.
A few things you can do:
- Choose which apps and websites use the proxy and which connect directly.
- Use TUN mode for apps that don’t follow system proxy settings, or use system proxy mode for proxy-aware apps.
- Share the connection with compatible LAN devices through HTTP/HTTPS.
- Choose a global relay, or deploy your own relay.
ReSocks supports macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and HarmonyOS. Installation and available controls vary by platform; iOS setup is handled through the client, and HarmonyOS NEXT requires an APK compatibility app.
I think it’s especially useful for developers, QA teams, and people who already have a SOCKS5 proxy they want to keep using across their workflows.
You can start a free trial without registering through the desktop or Android setup. You can purchase a prepaid plan inside the ReSocks client, with no automatic renewal. The download page has the platform-specific instructions: https://resocks.app/download
I’d love feedback on the setup and routing experience. What’s the hardest part of using your existing SOCKS5 proxy across your apps and devices?
