In a world where it's all about likes, RTs and favs, where teens remove their last Instagram photo if it doesn't get enough likes, products like Remove Vanity Metrics are a step forward in focusing on content only. I love Kanye West's idea behind the product and would love to see an Instagram version 🙌 Great job @jrdngonen @darshilpatel53 and @maaslalaniii 👏

@jrdngonen @darshilpatel53 @maaslalaniii @mrcalexandre Just as I wrote a Demetricator (my term for code that hides social metrics) for Twitter early this year, I have one for Instagram, and one for Facebook. Pros: I mean. This is the weirdest Twitter feed now. And it's MY feed. I don't know what other people think. Cons: I now have to think a lot more. This has created a new level of cognitive load for me as I scroll through Twitter not knowing what things are popular, and it's less fun now. Pros - part 2: I now have to think a lot more.

Great! I wrote about this earlier this year and had someone code my own little extension that does this on Twitter, FB, Medium, Quora, and Youtube because I was so sick of these metrics. I hope you will add these platforms in the future, it's about time someone professionalized this. Here's what I wrote and how mine worked: https://medium.com/@ngoeke/how-t...

@ngoeke @niklasgoeke hi niklas, never saw this thx for the link. thought you might be interested in this article I wrote about the broad effects of metrics: http://computationalculture.net/...

@ngoeke @bengrosser This is great, thank you! I'm not tackling it as scientifically as you are, but I agree with you in every way and the Demetricator is a great piece of software. Will follow you on Twitter!

@ped4enko haha thanks!

It's nice. Might want to get rid of the buttons altogether ( or unless hovered ). And I'd keep some kind of indicator if there are actually replies. Doesn't have to be the number, just if there's any replies at all

@mastef my Twitter Demetricator, which has been out since February, inserts small non-metric indicators when there are replies/retweets/likes http://bengrosser.com/projects/t...
