Hi everyone, I'm Robert, the founder of Remove Audio. I'm a software engineer in Antwerp and I build this next to my client work.
It started with a small annoyance. Every time I needed to mute a clip, the choice was an app to install or a website that wanted my video first, plus a sign-up or a watermark. For a job a browser can do, that felt wrong. So the first version ran FFmpeg inside the tab, and nothing was uploaded.
Then browsers got access to the graphics card through WebGPU, and the same idea started to work for AI. Today Remove Audio can:
- remove the vocals from a song or a video (karaoke, covers, remixes)
- remove the music from a video and keep the voice
- isolate a voice from a noisy recording
- turn background noise down, or off
The separation AI model runs on your GPU. The noise AI model runs on your processor. Your file never leaves your device, and if your computer can run the model, it's free. No account, no watermark.
The honest limits:
- the separation tools need a browser with WebGPU and about 8 GB of memory, and take up to 15 minutes of audio per file
- you get two stems: the voice and everything else
- phones run a lighter model, and only some recent ones
For huge files or slow laptops there's a Cloud option on our servers, with 10 free credits to start. That's the only paid part. As the models get smaller, more of this will run on your phone too.
