Hi Product Hunt! I’m the maker of Redact Shot (スミ消し), a free Mac app for hiding information before sharing screenshots, photos, and PDFs. Open a file, drag over the parts you want to hide, then save or copy the result. Blackout is the recommended choice for sensitive information: blur and mosaic may be reversible. The app can find redaction candidates for email addresses, IPv4 addresses, and text you specify. Detection runs on your Mac; you review candidates before applying them. It can miss information, so check the whole image before sharing. For PDFs, you can work page by page and export a new image-based PDF. All pages are rasterized, so text is no longer searchable or selectable. Check every page for anything you missed. Your images and extracted text stay on your Mac. The app is free, with no ads, subscriptions, or paid feature unlocks. In-app purchases are optional tips only. Requires macOS 14 or later.
