Hi Product Hunt — I'm Aaron, the founder/developer of Quiet Sky.
I built Quiet Sky because I wanted a weather app that could still be genuinely useful without making the user the product. You'd be surprised how many weather apps or weather providers are selling your real time location.
Weather apps have to send a location somewhere to get a forecast. Quiet Sky routes weather, map, and radar requests through its privacy proxy so the underlying providers don't receive your IP/device identity directly. There's no Quiet Sky account and no third-party tracking.
The app includes:
sunset forecasts
live radar
minute-by-minute rain timing where available
AQI
hourly and 10-day forecasts
widgets
multiple weather providers
a Privacy Dashboard showing the requests being protected
Right now the normal $59.99 Lifetime purchase is 99% off through Saturday Aug. 15 at 9 AM Pacific. No code is required; this is a regular Google Play offer and Play shows the localized discounted price.
I'd especially value feedback on two things:
-Does the privacy model make sense when you see it in the product?
-If Quiet Sky wouldn't replace your current weather app, what's missing?
Thanks for taking a look.
