The inspiration for this app grew out of my recent explorations into themes of overthinking and mental rest. While researching how we process stress and sleep, I realized that generic, hyper-positive motivation often falls flat when you're having a genuinely hard day. Sometimes, we don't need a loud cheerleader—we need words that acknowledge our actual emotional state.
I built Quies to bridge that gap. The problem with most quote apps is the sheer amount of filler. Quies strips that away. Instead, it curates thoughtful quotes from philosophers and poets, pairing them with ambient soundscapes (like soft rain) specifically matched to how you feel right now—whether you're reflective, overwhelmed, or seeking calm.

The rain soundscape paired with a Rilke quote genuinely caught me off guard, felt like someone actually thought about it instead of just tossing random affirmations at me. Liked that it asked how I was feeling first.
Love that it asks how I'm feeling first instead of throwing random quotes at me. Picked "reflective" and got a Rilke line paired with light rain that genuinely fit the moment.
love how the mood-first approach actually feels intentional rather than just a gimmick, and pairing the quote selection with ambient soundscapes is a really thoughtful touch.
