Take a photo of your food. ProteinLook recognizes the meal and estimates protein and calories (plus carbs and fat) – honestly, with a range instead of fake precision. You correct via chat, your daily protein goal fills up. No database search, no barcodes.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 I'm Reto, a marketing professor in Switzerland, and this is a weekend side project, not a startup.
The itch: I wanted to hit my daily protein target without the chore of calorie counting – no database search, no barcode scanning, no weighing. Every tracker I tried was built around calories first and made logging a second job.
What ProteinLook does: Take a photo of your meal (or type a sentence like "cappuccino and a croissant"). The AI recognizes the foods, estimates grams, protein and calories, and fills your protein ring for the day. If it's off, you just tell it – "only ate half", "no oil", "add a small beer" and it recalculates.
Two things I cared about:
Honest ranges, not fake precision. You'll see "~460 kcal, realistic range 360–620" instead of a confident "463 kcal" nobody can actually know from a photo. As a consumer-behavior researcher I find it fascinating that people trust the fake-precise number more – I'd rather be honest.
Zero friction. It's a web app (PWA): open proteinlook.com on your phone, add to home screen, done. No app store, free, no ads. Photos are analyzed and not stored.
