I’m the founder of Previo Budget. My journey with budgeting started a long time ago. For nearly 20 years, I used a software called Compte & Budget until it no longer met my needs. In 2021, I decided to build my own system on Excel. The formulas quickly became limited, so I introduced VBA. But I soon hit a wall: the VBA became way too heavy, the file ended up crashing, and I had to abandon the project. :'(
Out of that frustration, Previo Budget was born. I took my ideas and built a real, local Windows desktop application with encrypted backups. Why? Because I find it frustrating not to have a choice and to be forced into paying a monthly subscription just to track my finances... It feels a bit paradoxical to me.
With Previo Budget, you pay a one-time lifetime license. Your financial data is securely sealed on your PC. Method-wise, it applies zero-based budgeting and syncs directly with your actual paycheck cycles, not a rigid calendar month.
After fixing a major onboarding technical issue in v0.1.4.0, I have rapidly shipped versions 0.1.5.0 and 0.1.6.0. The app now includes:
• A complete Sandbox mode with dynamic sample data to explore without starting your 30-day trial.

• "Upcoming" tag for post-dated transactions so they don't alter your realized balance early.
