Every morning thousands of stocks move premarket. Most tools show a list of % changes. PreMarketPrice tells you which moves are actually unusual — each mover is scored by z-score vs its own volatility, relative volume, and excess return vs its sector. Then we hunt for the catalyst: earnings, analyst actions, or news. When there's no catalyst, we say so — a big move with no explanation is itself a signal.
Hey PH 👋
I built PreMarketPrice because every premarket scanner I tried had the same problem: a wall of tickers sorted by % change, with no way to tell a meaningful move from noise.
A +8% move on a low-float penny stock is normal. A +4% move on a mega-cap that never moves can be a once-a-year signal. Same list, completely different meaning.
So instead of ranking by raw %, every mover gets:
• σ-score — how unusual the move is vs that stock's own volatility
• RVOL — is the volume actually there
• Excess return — move vs its sector and the market
• Catalyst detection — we check earnings, analyst actions, and news. If nothing explains the move, the site literally says "No catalyst found" — often the most interesting answer
• Quality scores — valuation/growth/profitability/health, so you know what kind of company is moving
Everything is free, no signup. There's also a heatmap, earnings calendar, screener, and a dated archive of every trading day's movers. It runs on a self-hosted pipeline and posts notable movers automatically to X/Bluesky.
Would love feedback — especially from anyone who trades the premarket session. Happy to answer anything about the data pipeline too.
